SDNC SPOTLIGHT CEREMONY

 

 

INTRODUCTION

 

The CAPMT SDNC Board of Directors presents member teachers and their students, who have earned high scores and prizes in various programs offered by MTNA, CAPMT, District 1, SDNC, RCM, MTAC CM, and ABRSM. This annual event recognizes and congratulates our member teachers for their dedication to music education, and their students, for their efforts and accomplishments.

                                         

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES

 

Member teachers are invited to register students who have participated in a minimum of two events – from July 2024 through June 2025.

 

Students will receive a Certificate of Recognition, whether the student is available to perform in the Ceremony, or not.  Memorization is not a requirement to perform in the Spotlight Ceremony.

 

Below is the list of events and corresponding minimum scores, to be considered for the Spotlight Ceremony:

 

·     MTNA:  Performance in MTNA Events

·     CAPMT Piano Festival:  5-

·     CAPMT Ensemble Festival:  5-

·     CAPMT Concerto Competition:  5-

·     CAPMT Honors Competition:  5-

·     CAPMT Contemporary Competition:  5-

·     SDNC Masterclass Participation

·     SDNC Fall Festival:  90 points

·     SDNC Winter Festival:  90 points

·     SDNC Spring Festival:  90 points

·     RCM - First Class Honors – 80% of the Total Repertoire Score

·     MTAC CM – Score of “Excellent” in the Repertoire Score

·     ABRSM – Merit – 80% of the Total Repertoire Score

·     Senior Scholarship Winner(s)

·     Other music teacher association events and competitions on a case-by-case basis.  Please inquire.

 

 

REGISTRATION

When the registration period opens, a link will be provided to submit the student’s name, the title/composer of the piece(s) to be performed, the total length of piece(s), (the maximum time is 7 minutes), the student’s photo, and a short bio for the program. 

 

A brief bio to include:

·     student’s name & school attending in the fall

·     which program(s) and event(s) they had earned to be eligible

·     who they are currently studying with

·     for graduating Seniors – their plans after graduation

·     other accomplishments

·     hobbies

 

 

Example:

Jack Jones Smith will be attending 7th grade at Valley Junior High School in Carlsbad.  He received a 5+ in the CAPMT Contemporary Music Competition, and, he received an Excellent rating in the Repertoire portion of the MTAC CM program.  Jack is currently studying with Dr. Amazing Educator.  He and his hockey team won first prize in the regional competition.  Jack enjoys biking and surfing

 

FEES

There is no fee to participate.

 

RECEPTION

A reception will be held following the student performances.
